BK10 Series Static Wet Hydraulic Brakes – A Professional Braking Solution for Orbit Hydraulic Motors
The BK10 series static wet hydraulic brakes are wheel-side braking solutions specifically designed for hydraulic Orbit motors. They are widely used in scissor lifts, agricultural machinery (such as combine harvesters and tractors), forestry machinery, forklifts, and other low-speed traveling equipment requiring wheel mounting.
This series of brakes uses a spring-loaded, hydraulically released operating mode and features static braking lock-up. I. Correct Usage of BK10
1. Installation Points
The BK10 series brakes are designed for wheel-side drives. Before installation, please ensure that the host system parameters match the selected model. The following points should be noted during installation:
Hydraulic Circuit Connection: The brake has dual brake release ports (7/16-20UNF O-ring interface), one for oil inlet and the other for bleed air or connect to external brake fluid.
Oil drain port requirements: The maximum pressure at the oil drain port must not exceed 0.05 MPa. It must have a separate return line to the oil tank and must not be connected in parallel with the return oil line; otherwise, excessive back pressure may cause the brake to fail to release completely or damage the seals.
Connecting flange: The flange specifications are Φ101.6×12.7mm, flange pitch circle Φ177.8mm, and 4×Φ13mm mounting holes. During installation, use the specified bolt tightening torque and apply thread-locking adhesive.
Shaft extension connection: The output shaft is a Ø38 tapered shaft (1:8), equipped with a 7.96×7.96×31.75mm flat key. Ensure the shaft and load fit accuracy during installation.
Brake chamber filling: Before installation, add hydraulic oil to the brake chamber as required. The lubricating oil volume is approximately 100~120cm³, ensuring the brake pads are in an oil-lubricated state.

2. System Configuration
The BK10 employs a spring-loaded braking and hydraulic release principle. During normal vehicle operation, pressurized oil is supplied to the brakes, overcoming the spring force to separate the brake pads and release the brakes. When the vehicle stops or the system loses pressure, the spring force automatically presses the brake pads back together, achieving static brake lock-up. This design ensures that the equipment can still automatically brake in the event of a sudden hydraulic system failure, providing true load holding and emergency stopping capabilities.
Air must be purged from the brake lines before use. Bleeding method: Starting with the brake furthest from the master cylinder, loosen the bleed screws sequentially, repeatedly pressing the brake pedal several times until no air bubbles appear in the flowing oil. Then tighten the bleed screws.
3. Operating Precautions
The minimum hydraulic pressure for releasing the brakes is 2.8 MPa, and the maximum operating pressure of the braking system must not exceed 21 MPa.
The maximum brake speed is 300 rpm, suitable for low-speed travel equipment. Do not exceed this speed.
Before starting the brakes, check that the oil level is sufficient to avoid dry friction of the brake pads due to insufficient oil.
When the equipment is not in use for extended periods, it is recommended to periodically start the device and allow the brakes to operate several times to prevent piston jamming.
II. Common Problem Troubleshooting and Repair Methods
1. Brake Failure or Insufficient Braking Force
Possible Causes: The control piston is jammed due to burrs or dirt; brake line leaks or blockages leading to insufficient brake fluid supply and decreased brake fluid pressure; excessive wear of brake pads.
Troubleshooting Methods: Check the brake lines for leaks and confirm that the brake system pressure has reached the 2.8MPa release pressure. If the lines are normal, disassemble and clean the control piston, remove burrs, or refit it.
Repair Measures: Replace worn brake pads; clean the valve body and replace the seals; repair or replace the line connectors.
2. Inability to Release or Slow Release After Braking
Possible Causes: Excessive back pressure at the drain port; insufficient control fluid pressure; jammed control piston or worn rectangular ring; contaminated brake fluid causing difficulty in return flow.
Troubleshooting Methods:
1. Check if the drain line returns to the oil tank separately, and confirm that the drain port pressure is ≤0.05MPa; check if the system release pressure reaches 2.8MPa; check the cleanliness and viscosity of the brake fluid.
Repair Measures: Lay a separate drain line; increase the control oil pressure to the specified value; clean the valve core and replace the seals; replace the brake fluid.
3. External Brake Leakage
Possible Causes: Aging or damage to seals at the joints of plugs, inlet/outlet ports, or valve covers.
Troubleshooting Methods: Visually inspect the leak location and observe any signs of oil seepage.
Repair Measures: Replace the corresponding seal and retighten the connecting bolts.
4. Vibration or Abnormal Noise During Braking
Possible Causes: Brake drum roundness out of tolerance; loose brake friction pads; loose mounting flange.
Troubleshooting Methods: Check the roundness of the brake drum, and adjust it on a lathe if necessary; check for loose friction pads; check the tightness of the brake backing plate.
Repair Measures: Re-rivet or replace friction plates; tighten loose flange bolts.
5. Repair Tips
After disassembly and cleaning, check the condition of all seals and pistons. Brake parts must not be welded or straightened; replacement is mandatory. It is recommended to replace aged seals during repair to ensure brake performance is restored to factory settings. If internal damage is severe, complete replacement is recommended for safety. If disassembly is necessary, please refer to the product drawings for sequential disassembly and assembly.
